The Basis of Christianity
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples,
if ye have love one to another. (John 13,35)
The basis of Christian doctrine is love: it needs to be present in heart of every true Christian. God is Love, and the one believing in Christ must be like Him. He must have Christ in his heart. So, who does not love – is not a Christian.
The first action of faith in Christ is awakening of love in one’s heart. This love is manifested in his every action. First of all this love is directed towards God; but love towards God warms heart towards a neighbor too, “for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” (1 John 4,20)
True love becomes an awakening of every step of our life, it ignites a divine sparkle within us. Love teaches us compassion towards every sorrow, to every human sickness and weakness, patience in times of trials, meekness in grievance and constant readiness to any sacrifice. With love in heart we will always be able to withstand anything, give everything, suffer for our brothers.
