Example and Shadow of Heavenly Things
Priests…who serve unto example and shadow of heavenly things…see, saith he, that you make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. (Hebrews 8, 4-5)
Our thoughts of dead are often unclear, blurry, as if it belongs to the other world that does not exist. Apostle Paul has a completely different view: spiritual world for him is more realistic, than material world. His earthly life appears to him like a dream with heavenly visions.
We wonder sometimes if we would remember in the other world anything about our earthly life? But everything in here, on Earth, is just an “example and shadow of heavenly things” and was created “according to the pattern shewed in the mount”.
What a joy is in this revelation! When we get scared of unknown future life, when we regret that we won’t take anything into grave with us, let us remember how much Lord brought onto this sinful earth. How generously nature is gifted with the miracles! The beginning and basis of all the reality of this visible world was laid in eternity. All visible things come from invisible, all good what we have in us point to the divine beginning of everything in existence, to the Godly sparkle, smoldering within us.
God is the source of all the beauty and eminence on earth. Our earthly attachments, holy matrimony, the highest and purest intentions of man is just a bare reflection of love, that is superior to mind, of endless divine love, that gave the only Son to redeem the mankind.
So, our real homeland is not on Earth but in Heaven. We are strangers here and when we go there we go home to rest after a long journey. And there we will find out the meaning of what was just a prototype here.
