Dew of Merciful Love
The effect of the Holy Spirit on a human soul is similar to the effect of dew on the grass, it irrigates and freshens the nature. We all need this graceful influence! Without the grace of the Holy Spirit, our soul is nothing but dry land, like fading, dying plant. And it gets irrigated by a graceful dew that is sent by God.
The Spirit of God gives us life and everything that life brings with it. Gifted by the gifts of Holy Spirit we feel happy, kind, strong and we have no shortcomings. But we are helpless without this holy gift. Our prayer is dry, reading of the Word of God does not bring any good to us, the words of life turn into dead letters for us, we are not satisfied with our work, our soul does not have a spiritual life.
What a wonderful promise this is: “His heavens shall drop down dew” – these words give us confidence that Lord will not leave us. Burning wind of doubt and temptation, looking to burn down those that distanced themselves from God, will be defeated by the saving acts of graceful dew. The Spirit of God will overcome the spirit of evil in our soul, He will change our whole life, He will open our mind to understand the Word of God and will illuminate the surrounding us darkness.
O Lord, You are the One Who satiates the lands with life-giving dew and has pity on wordless plants, have mercy of my thirsty soul, give life to me, o Lord, by your Holy Spirit, send upon me the life-giving dew of Your Love, slake my thirst and do not let me die!
