Light Will Defeat Darkness

The light shineth in darkness;

and the darkness comprehended it not (Jn.1, 5)

Dark, pitch black night covered the earth and fearful clouds are hiding the lights of stars and a tired traveler, going through the darkest forest can’t see anything before him. He is close to desperation, it seems like he’ll never reach his destination, will never come to a human habitat… Suddenly, in the midst of thick darkness, something sparkled, and a ray of hope penetrated the traveler’s soul. He walks faster now, one by one, the lights start to appear; he’s not alone any longer, he’s saved.

Isn’t it how it usually happens in life? There are times in history and in lives of everyone of us, when everything gets covered with darkness. Sin, anger, disbelief, lies – all these enemy powers as if overcome the whole mankind, not letting a single ray of light come through this darkness. But “the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not”. One sparkle is enough to spread the light further and around us.

When we go through joyless times, that press us with their heaviness, Lord does not want us to give in to dark thoughts. He wants us, amongst this darkness, to always strive to  light and shine brightly with a light of truth and kindness in our example. Most of all in this life we need the quiet source of love, which is spread by those, who are close to it’s source, to the love of God. A soul, which is approaching the Throne of God every day in a fervent prayer, will undoubtedly get lightened with a ray of divine light and fulfill the commandment of Apostle Paul: “be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Rom.12, 2)

Having been renewed, it will be able to spread a quiet shine of love and lighten a sparkle of God in those around it. Then the light will finally defeat darkness and the eternal sun of Truth with raise over us again.
