Almighty Power

Deliver us from the evil one (Lk.11, 4)

The Word of God abideth in you and ye have overcome the wicked one (1 Jn.2, 12) – says Apostle John. How did they overcome? “Because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 Jn.4, 4). This victory is not achieved by man – it is beyond his power. But by such an almighty power that does not let the evil to the faithful soul. The enemy shoots his “fiery darts”, but with the shied of faith they are quenched and a soul, “having done all, stands” (Ephes.6, 13-16).

The enemy tempts  it in multiple ways and his schemes are countless. But the Lord, Who abides in His children, is bigger than the tempter and can protect us from every evil deed and save us for the Kingdom of Heaven. The prayer “deliver us from the evil one”, which is said sincerely, can never remain without an answer, because Christ trampled on the forces of Hades by His death and “the stronger hath overcome the weaker” (Lk.11, 22). It is said that “the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet.5, 8), searing for a defenseless and self-confident soul, which is wondering on it’s own ways, not protected by Christ, - he can devour a soul like that.

But those, who are hidden under the cover of the Almighty, even the weakest creatures, who are holding on to Christ, - all in His power can say, no matter how scary the roaring could seem to be: “The Lord is faithful Who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil” (2 Thes.3, 3)
