The Light of Love
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill can not be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel,
but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Mt.5, 14-16)
The Savior point out to His disciples the way their light should shine for the people, avoiding two limits: desire to intentionally show your light and desire to hide it from people.
He’s saying that a city that is set on a hill can not be hid, i.e there is a power within themselves, which they would not be able to hide even if they wanted to. This power manifests to people by itself, letting them feel the presence of something new.

How could we comprehend this? How can we shine consciously and unconsciously? Admitting our power and rejecting it at the same time? Lord solves this complication. He teaches us to shine for others, giving glory to God and not assigning anything to ourselves. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven”
So let your power be a power of love; the one that dies every day only to rise in lives of others. Let the word of your Father, which is in Heaven, be your glory; His cares – your cares; let your will merge with the will of the Father and be completely absorbed by it. Let His joy be your greatest joy; His grief – your greatest sorrow; to serve Him – your greatest desire.
And indeed, having achieved this, you will become like a star on a dark sky for people. You will become transmitters of His light, reflecting His divine rays. Having forgotten of your own happiness, you will attain an unthinkable power. People will wonder it, and you yourselves will wonder it even more, because your power will be the power of meekness, the power of the souls, who crucify themselves by the power of love.
