Shining Star

The star… went before them (Mt.2, 9)

Where was the star when they were at Herod’s town?  Did it stop shining after it brought them to the town of the Great King?

No, the star was still there. But it was shadowed by men’s pride and tall buildings of the large town. The wise men stopped seeing the wondrous heavenly sign when they got themselves in a dark worldly shade. But when they left all those earthy things, the star appeared to them again. It was there, on the clear sky, waiting for them to turn to it, to shine with a quiet joyous light upon them again.

The same often happens to you, my soul. You scream about loosing the Bethlehem star, but you turned yourself away from it. The star is still there, but you lost the sky off your sight. Your star is awaiting you to take you to the cradle of the Heavenly Infant, and, when you reach humility, manifested in Bethlehem, you will turn into infant yourself and obtain a heart of a child and wisdom of an elder.
