Healings of Christ
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth their wounds (Ps.146, 3)
Broken heart can not be healed right away. Heart is paralyzed by grief, it lost its ability to function, it can not participate in normal life any longer. To heal such a heart means to bring back the ability to labor, but the wound remains open for a long time. Christ Himself did not promise to heal the wound right away, but to “bind” it with His hands, which means He will stop bleeding and let us function again, despite our heartache.

But what is the medicine that He gives us? This is compassion to everyone’s sorrow. The feeling that I am not the one that is suffering, which we bring by active participation in the life of our neighbor, can ease our own grief. When we see the burdens of others, we do not notice our own.
Oh Lord, only You can heal my wounds and only Your cross can bind them. Allow me to Your path of the cross, let me carry Your cross with You and share the worldly sorrows with You. The shadow from Your cross will be my light and my cross will become lighter under the weight of Yours; my tears will stop when I see Your tears, which you shed for the sins and evil deeds of the whole mankind.
